Brad Welsh

Brad Welsh, NSW Youth Advisory Council member of 2005 has recently been awarded "Young Professional of the Year" at the Public Sector Spring Charity Ball on 2 November 2007. Brad, who was one of only three people in the state to win the award, was recognised for his outstanding contribution to the public sector and to the community. Brad is currently working for the Department of Community Services as the Acting Manager Child Protection and Out-of-Home care Policy in the Aboriginal Services Branch. Among other things, Brad developed a strengths-based Aboriginal service review tool, an entry into employment strategy to help recruit Aboriginal caseworkers, a local place cultural competence program, supported an Aboriginal football competition and worked to build relationships with the local Aboriginal communities. Aged 26, he has also undertaken both community welfare and law degrees while working full-time. Congratulations Brad on your outstanding achievement!
