  • Privacy Awareness Week - 24-30 Aug
    Privacy NSW is part of the Asia Pacific Privacy Authorities (APPA) which includes privacy agencies in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Canada and Korea. Each year APPA runs Privacy Awareness Week and this year, the privacy agencies are holding a competition for secondary students to make a short 2 minute video on what privacy means to them.   • Know the Deal: student video competition - 13-29 Aug
    The NSW Office of Industrial Relations (OIR), is conducting a video competition, which helps students to learn about workplace rights and responsibilities, while meeting syllabus outcomes. The competition is open to all 7-10 NSW secondary students. Prizes will be presented in two divisions: NSW Metropolitan and NSW Country. In each case, winners will receive: 1st Prize $250 for student(s) and $1,000 for their school. 2nd Prize $150 for student(s) and $500 for their school. 3rd Prize $100 for student(s) and $250 for their school Winners will be announced by the NSW Minister for Industrial Relations and winning entries displayed on the OIR website.   • LIFE Awards - 11-28 August
    The LIFE Awards are a prominent national annual event which acknowledges the vital work that is being undertaken in the prevention of suicide and self-harm across Australia. The LIFE Awards are managed by Suicide Prevention Australia (SPA). Please visit www.suicidepreventionaust.org/Awards.aspx for more information including a description of each award category.

  • The 4Rs - Rights, Reconciliation, Respect, Responsibility30 Sep - 3 Oct
    The 4Rs is the pre-eminent national event in 2008 for discussion and debate on Australia's future as a cosmopolitan civil society. Over 100 speakers and up to 400 delegates will explore opportunities for building a more inclusive society. The themes traverse human rights, Indigenous reconciliation, inter-cultural relations and citizenship in a globalizing world. The 4Rs Organising Committee invites submissions on the conference themes for speakers, panels, presentations, performances and other forms of participation by 2 July.  More information at www.the4rsconference.org

  • AWE National Conference 2008 - "Choices Chances and opportunities: Women and Girls in the 21st Century" - 1-3 October, Cairns
    The conference will focus on: education, career, lifestyles, morals and ethics. This conference challenges women in their personal, career and community life to support girls' educatioin and women's career pathways. For more information visit the AWE website.


  • 2009 Indent Partnership Grants close - 31 Oct
    The grants of $2500 will assist young event promoters and emerging artists by offering the support, resources and materials required to get gigs happening in their area. With the view to developing skills and creating sustainable youth-driven music events, Indent will also deliver free workshops to those successful in their application for funding.
