Knowing about your rights at work

  • As a young worker, it is important that you are well-informed about your workplace rights and responsibilities. The NSW Office of  Industrial Relations has info about NSW employment laws.   The contact phone number for awards enquiries is 13 16 28.

  • www.wagenet.gov.au provides information about wages and conditions of employment in Australia for work that is covered by federal awards and agreements.

  • See www.lawstuff.org.au for information on your legal rights at work, including what to do if you're being given a hard time by someone at work.

  • The WorkCover NSW website has a section on workplace safety for young workers, to help you better understand your rights and obligations.
