  • Turn It Up, a joint project of SBS and NOISE, invites young people in Australia aged 14 to 28 to submit an original creative work that has something to say about waht's happening in their diverse communities. There are $12,000 worth of prizes up for grabs as well as the opportunity to have work showcased on NOISE and across SBS Radio, Television and Online.  For more information visit the NOISE website.

  • H2W2 (How to, Where to) is a toolkit for young people, providing the lowdown on getting projects up and running.  The H2W2 guide is practical and action-driven, with info on how to develop your ideas, manage projects well and move on to the next one. It has lists of contacts for advice and help, and it will assist young people develop skills to be a manager, artistic director, negotiator, public relations officer and fundraiser.

  • ArtStart is a biennial festival that provides opportunities for young people between the ages of 12 to 24 to develop skills by participating in creative projects, as well as providing a showcase for performing and exhibiting their work.   • The Play Now Act Now short film festival is open again this year for all budding filmmakers aged 18-25 across NSW to express their ideas on the issues of heavy alcohol consumption. See the website for details of information sessions in your area and to download an entry form.

  • Shoot Nations is a free global online photographic competition, which is open to everyone aged 11-24 from anywhere in the world who is interested in voicing their opinion.  Last year the competition received over 1500 entries from 85 countries, and over 100,000 web hits.  Over 4500 people attended exhibitions of Shoot Nations photographs on 4 different continents.  to find out more, go to http://www.shootnations.org

  • YouthRock is a NSW-wide rock music competition held during Youth Week for young bands that have a majority of their members at secondary school level.

  • National Youth Week runs annual talent comps for young writers, musicians, photographers, designers and filmmakers.

  • The Triple J Gig Guide The triple j gig guide has details about gigs, tours and festivals happening right across Australia! Create your very own calendar of gigs & events ('your gig list') so you'll never miss out on information about the gigs and festivals you're most interested in checking out. You can register to have this personalised gig info sent to you by weekly email.

  • The Program is designed to encourage creativity in areas such as design, fashion and film. It has news on events, stories about young people with creative flair and provides the opportunity to have your work showcased.

  • Indent is a NSW Government initiative aimed at giving young people the opportunity to organise their own gigs. Find out about possible funding for producing music-based events and check out what others have been doing with some help from Indent.

  • Indent has produced a publication in conjunction with YAPA: A young person's guide to the gig galaxy, which has heaps of info about how to organise events in your area.

  • The Young People and the Arts website was established by the Australia Council to make sure young people have all the support they need to get involved in the arts. The site has information on funding options, as well as links to a range of arts organisations working with young people.

  • noise is a media-based festival showcasing the creative work of young Australians aged under 25 years.

  • Are you a young person living in the country with an experience or opinion about rural life that you want to share with Australia? ABC Radio National’s Bush Telegraph program wants to hear what life is like for young people living in rural and regional Australia. Email them your story of 450 words about what it’s like living in your part of rural Australia. 

  • The Australian Theatre for Young People (ATYP) is Australia's flagship youth theatre company. Find out how you can get involved in productions and workshops.
