Drugs and Alcohol

 

  • Reach Out! has information on the effects of different drugs, advice on how to minimise the risk in taking them and suggestions on how to cope with a drug problem.  

  • Drinking Decisions gives you the facts about excessive alcohol consumption and its after effects, to help you make informed choices.

  • The Drug Smart Z-card dispels common myths about some of the drugs that young people may encounter and provides accurate information on drug and alcohol related issues. It includes useful contact numbers.

  • NSW Health has tips on talking to your parents about drugs, as well as a list of phone numbers in NSW where you can get help with alcohol and drug use.

  • www.druginfo.nsw.gov.au has factual information about different drugs and their effects, as well as info about drugs and the law and treatment services.

  • www.alcoholinfo.nsw.gov.au was developed in response to recommendations from the 2003 NSW Summit on Alcohol Abuse. The site includes information on drink spiking, binge drinking, and NSW Government policies on alcohol.

  • A new Youth Drug Support website providing young people with information on a range of issues including drugs and alcohol, mental and sexual health, has been set up under the auspices of Family Drug Support.  Funded by the NSW Government, the site provides information and support, plus the oportunity to ask questions via email, text or telephone.  Go to www.yds.org.au.

  • The NSW Office of Liquor, Gaming and Racing website has information on the NSW underage drinking laws, as well as advice on hosting successful alcohol-free events and other alcohol related issues.

  • The 2007 National Drug Strategy Household Survey shows data on usage of tobacco, alcohol and illicit drugs by Australians.
